Politics
Essays, commentaries, suggestions, on issues affecting Americans and what just plain annoys me. My grandfather Shaw wrote a political column for a paper back in IL, so I guess this runs in the family.
Politics do matter. To everyone. If we want to live in a compassionate and just society, we need to elect politicians that will represent the people and not special interests. Pay attention to what they do, not what they say.

The Daily Show Nails It
12/2/08
The Daily Show's first segment on Monday (12/1/08) had John Oliver discussing who was responsible for the terror attacks in Mumbai. It was so right on. Everything they said - even though it is bleep is right f*in on!

Who are these “Experts?”
12/2/08
So, yesterday, a panel of experts released their report that said (shock) that we have been in a recession since Dec 2007. Anyone making less then $200k per year could have told you that! So why is Wall Street reeling from this news? Because they didn’t know! Yeah – you heard me. The economic experts who make their living supposedly knowing what is going on with the economy didn’t know what was going on with the economy until another group of super experts sat down and finally decided to do some math. So here is my question. WHY ARE THESE PEOPLE CONSIDERED EXPERTS? Write Comment (0 comments) |

Hillary as Secretary of State?
11-17-08
Scuttlebutt has it that Barack Obama is apparently considering Hillary Clinton and Bill Richardson for the position of Secretary of State. I hope he chooses Bill Richardson. The concern I have with Hillary is that she isn’t a very ethical person. That isn’t to say she doesn’t have good intentions, she just is prone to resorting to lies and deceit to get her way. I don’t respect that and am hoping that Obama will actually place trustworthy people around him, especially in a position as important as Secretary of State. Write Comment (0 comments) |

The Tyranny is Over

11/5/08
That was my first thought at 11 pm last night when the race was officially called for Obama and it was clear McCain was conceding. The tyranny that was the Bush years is finally over! The tyranny of a stupid, fearful, hate filled and seriously criminal administration is finally over. And yes, I cried tears of relief at the thought. Write Comment (0 comments) |

Why Pennsylvania?
10/28/08
All the pundits are wondering why McCain is putting all his eggs into Pennsylvania when he has such a large deficit in the polls there. And, since he is behind in the polls in a lot of places, including swing states, why go after a solid blue one like PA? They seem to be missing the obvious; it is because that was the state the Republicans had planned to steal this election. Write Comment (0 comments) |

Glittering Nonsense and Helpless Mavericks
10/3/08
Obviously, watched the debate last night. Came out like I expected it to. Biden clearly had a plan to handle Palin without coming off as condescending or misogynist. Palin stuck to her speciality, glittering generalities and talking points. But if I have to hear the word “maverick” one more time, I think I will puke. Seriously. And isn't it time we have someone who can pronounce "nuclear" properly? (shudder)

McCain, Palin and Horsesh*t

10/1/08
Ok, I have been trying not to write about Gov Palin for a while. Thought it better to focus on McCain, but really, something has come up that just has me seriously wigged. Sarah Palin doesn’t read the newspaper! Write Comment (0 comments) |

Wall Street, Main Street and Washington aside, there are some really cool internet sites that help discuss the merits and demerits of the 2 candidates. Here are some links I think you should visit.
