Humanist Thought of the Week: 7 13 2010

For Skepticisms Sake

If you call yourself a skeptic but the only thing you are skeptical about is religious claims, then you aren’t really a skeptic.

Skepticism, to be useful, should be applied to all aspects of our lives.

To products, politics, medicine, and any extraordinary claim you come across.

Just because someone you like said so, doesn’t make it so.

And just because a claim fits with your previously held beliefs doesn’t make it so either.

Do your research and find out for yourself.

And don’t just look at research that reinforces your beliefs.

Read the stuff that contradicts it as well.

PLEASE!!!! For skepticisms sake!
