By their Supporters
I have always said, by their supporters shall you know the candidate. If angry and yes, bitter people support a candidate it is probably because they themselves are bitter and angry. If bigoted and racist people support a candidate, it is because the candidate themselves is bigoted and racist. So, I am distressed to find that Hillary’s supporters are a bit delusional when it comes to their grip on reality. And I hate saying this of my fellow democrats.
Do Humanists get mad?
I participate, when I can, in the Second Life Humanist discussions. They are way more interesting then many real life meetings I have been to, and trust me; I have been to more than my fair share of Humanist meetings. I think what I like most is that we discuss the Humanist approach to various issues. We don’t have an expert come and lecture to us, we simply discuss how we each, as Humanists, approach various issues.
Science and Humanism
Why Humanists like science so much.
Here is my latest Humanist video – it is adapted from a discussion I led a few years back for a philosophy discussion club down in Deerfield Beach. They wanted to discuss why Humanists are so fond of science.
Paranoid about Being Expelled
The Intelligent Design Movement is excited, they now have a cool new movie promoting their views. The movie was written by and stars Nixon’s former speech wrtier, Ben Stein. Viewing the trailer, which is about all you can do at this point because they don’t really want anyone who knows how to think to critique it, the movie makers are totally paranoid. Seriously. Here is my comments on the paranoid trailer for Expelled.
The Muse of Capt Jack
OK – so it turns out that the super hot gay actor who plays Capt Jack on the Dr Who and Torchwood BBC series is also a stage actor well versed in musical theater. And, he can sing! He has several albums, the latest is “Another Side.” It is an album of covers of love songs. Really quite sappy. And when I say sappy, I mean Lawrence Welk sappy. Lots of violins, soft sappy vocals and heartfelt lyrics. Despite all that, it is a really good album.
Back in February, Grassroots Mom posted an article on DailyKos comparing the track records of Clinton and Obama. She didn’t want to buy into the Obama hype and was equally skeptical of Clinton’s claims to being more experienced. She did really excellent research on Thomas.gov and only looked at the 2007 legislative year. What she was looking for was not just the types of bills introduced, but also, how successful the candidates were at getting their legislation passed. What she found apparently surprised her.
