It’s All Humanism’s fault

Humanist Thought of the Week: Oct 13 2009

It’s all our fault

Sometimes it seems like the religious right blames Humanists for everything.

And you know what?

They are right.

If it weren’t for Humanism, there would be no gay rights movement.

If it weren’t for Humanism, there would be no women’s rights movement.

Heck, if it weren’t for Humanism, there would be no civil rights movement, ever.

And if it weren’t for Humanism, prayer would still be mandatory and death would still be a punishment for not believing as the majority does.

If it weren’t for Humanism, we would be living in a theocratic dictatorship and not a secular democracy.

So yes, guilty as charged.

And you know what?

I am proud to be a Humanist.
