Humanist Thought of the Week: 3 16 2010
Talking about suicide
Humanism does not hold any prohibitions on committing suicide.
But that doesn’t mean we condone it.
We love life and can’t understand anyone who would throw their’s away haphazardly.
Unless you are at the end of your life biologically speaking, we view suicide as a pretty stupid thing to do.
Suicide is final.
Whatever your problems are, they are temporary.
Regardless of how badly you feel, your emotions are temporary.
So why throw away your life over a temporary problem or emotion.
That would be seriously stupid.
Choose life and then get on with getting happy.
